Recently, the Dave Matthews Band informed their fans that in order to fulfill the band’s contract obligations they would be releasing a greatest hits disc. They asked the fans to contribute their favorite 10 tracks for consideration. Thanks to Sarah for the heads up. The survey will be ending on Friday, August 18, 2006 so hurry up and vote!!!
I couldn’t narrow my picks down to just 10 but I was able to choose 40 of my favorite Dave Matthews Band tracks. I don’t think that they will release a 4 disc Greatest Hits but if they do, maybe they can learn a little from my would be compilation. Taking my cue from Pearl Jam’s greatest hits (which had an Up disc for rockin’ hits and a Down disc for the mellow tracks) and the Love/God/Murder Johnny Cash sets I have arranged my favorite Dave tracks into four catagories. And no, they aren’t in alphabetical order. Enjoy!

BTW, on August 19, 1999 I spotted some cute girl wearing a Dave Summer Tour shirt and struck up a conversation with her. Who knew that 2 years later I would marry that girl.
Sandy and I will be celebrating the day we met this Saturday at the Dave concert in Dallas. We are stoked.
“And no, they aren’t in alphabetical order”
I’m so proud of you! hahaha
In all seriousness, I just found out today on http://www.dmband.com that the deadline is Friday. I’M JUST NOW FINDING THAT OUT! Ok, so I really gotta get cracking. I’m really going to try to only do 10, since that’s all we’re allowed to submit. It’s going to be hard. I love your 4-disc compilation…I think I’ll at least use that format on my iPod!!!
In sad, sad, tragic news…Michael and I did NOT go to the Dave concert here in Atlanta last night. [insert gigantic gasp of disbelief and disgust] We decided we needed to save money instead so I sold our tickets. We were going to be on the 17th row from the stage. Not the best I’ve had, but still very good. This was the first year in 6 years straight that I haven’t been to a DMB concert. I’m all “growed up” I guess. That or just completely stupid. SIGH.
Off to compile my list…
I’m so sorry for your loss. I am surprised but understand. Growing up stinks.
I’ll listen extra hard for you and Michael on Saturday.
Micheal – great selection and exellent categorisation as well. Those are future playlists in iTunes.
Sarah – That is highly shocking and highly responsible. Oh, loved the “Armageddon” reference btw.
Done.
Micheal, you need to list some more workout playlists. Ever since you published your first couple of lists, I went through my music files and found the majority of the songs on your list (great minds think alike). You’re right about the songs being great tunes to sweat along with.
But I’m wearing the playlist out and my iPod is screaming for more Felker insight!
